Background
The Gallery opened in November 2006 as Gallery 37 to display products made for a project called Tree 37. The project - supported by South Yorkshire Forest Partnership - involved local makers, artists, schools and craftspeople in making a range of wood products from a single beech tree. The tree had to be felled in Whiteley Wood (it had been marked for felling with the number 37). The wood products were later exhibited in Sheffield's Winter Gardens. In 2008 we changed our name to Working Woodlands Gallery.
