Lea Torp Nielsen
Lea uses locally sourced reclaimed timber for her sculptures and a deep admiration of the material is present in all her work. Her work has a very gentle and tactile quality to it. Contradictory, perhaps, these gentle and sometimes naive emotional landscapes are made with chainsaws, angle grinders and other power tools.
Lea also uses fire in her work as the fire transforms the material dramatically, from vegetal to mineral, but also for the viewer. It’s not the warm, familiar material any more. Lea also carves stone and bone, and is available for public and private commissions.
