Several years ago redundancy from main employment gave John the opportunity to devote himself full-time to his hobby. Now his time is spent working as a professional Wood Turner making numerous items ranging from bowls, vases and hollow-form pieces to bespoke staircase and kitchen parts, antique restoration and sculptures.
John uses mainly English hardwoods, travelling to many suppliers searching out unusual and interesting pieces of wood for his work. The shape and style of each piece is dictated by the unique characteristics of each piece of timber. John's satisfaction comes from creating something of beauty from knarred and unlikely looking pieces of wood. John is willing to consider commissions and can be contacted by email
